Best since P2. The first 3 tracks are the worst part. Idk if it was because I heard the 2 singles so many times, but once track 4 starts I have to listen till the end.

The opener is definitely the weakest song, but even then it works as a good introduction to warm the listener up before diving into the chaos.

I’ll probably listen to it at some point but I really just do not like much this band has done after Colors. And even then I think Alaska and Silent Circus are better.

oh cmon man it’s not anywhere near as garish as that lead single for this record

Self titled - colors is a great run imo

I think they started to get goofy with Colors and then straight up dumb as fuck after that but I’d agree.

But I generally find most prog insufferable so these guys were never gonna be for me

This type of prog is 1000% insufferable.

I told a friend of mine that I like my.prog atmospheric(like Opeth) rather than technical wankery and weirdness (BtaM)

Pretty much spot-on.

Yeah I think after colors the gimmicks started getting completely out of control. I understand the idea that colors itself is way too gimmicky as well though. I’d say through parallax 2 there’s songs here and there that are worth people’s time but the past 3 or so records have been absolute snoozefests for me

Parallax 2 still the goat but so far this is pretty cool. I will agree that most things that these guys have done recently have been underwhelming.

Parallax II is definitely a high point in their more recent albums. I think that one found the right balance of weirdness and focus; it's an incredible record.

Yeah Parallax 2 is probably my favorite along with Colors 1. I love silly carnival prog wankery though, so I’ve enjoyed all their recent stuff, but I can understand the disdain. After 2 listens this sits pretty similarly to Colors 2- very solid but doesn’t excel like Colors, Great Misdirect, or Parallax 2

Parallax 2 is my favourite from full on prog metal era BTBAM.
