Played about 5 hours of this at a friend's house recently, first of all it's gorgeous and the combat is a blast. Not invested in the story/world yet but I'll hopefully play the rest some time soon. The OST has been a head scratcher for me personally, the songs themselves are catchy, but they feel really out of place or not matching the tone at times lol. Again, only a few hours in, but excited to play the rest

@gyro FF hasn't been the series it used to be since the og creator left and even some of the og games are a bit divisive. 12 had an interesting combat system but the characters arent that interesting. 13 was definitely a love it or hate it type game, 15 had great characters but the combat, story, and world were half baked. 16 you know about.
If you have a 360 I cannot recommend Lost Odyssey enough, even has Uematsu. It feels like a continuation of the themes and ideas of FFX.

Bump for this incredible OST and game

Checked out one of the big songs "Une vie à t'aimer" and holy shit does that song suck ass. As annoying as some of the worst anime soundtracks.

I don't love every song on the OST. As far as I'm concerned that one is just some generic late game background battle music. Yea basically generic folk metal pop. But the atmospheric tracks throughout the game are really good

Love the early game boss music and the first several main area themes

as it's applied within the game i think it can actually be pretty overbearing at times, there just always seems to be some incredibly dramatic music playing at all times when a bit of quiet would be sometimes be lovely, but all in all very impressive and dynamic score

I kind of disagree with that. Yes, there is some cheesy, overdramatic stuff in this, and your mileage on that will vary, but there's tons of ambient/world-building atmosphere in the game levels.

Started playing the game, soundtrack is cool from what I've heard but I hope there's not as much leitmotif spam as I've been hearing. Like okay leitmotifs are cool but are there more than two?
