This is one of the better hip hop albums in a while. That being said, I do agree w Drifter that overall hip hop is dead in a similar way to when Nas said it in 06. There's still good music but it's not the cultural zeitgeist it once was.

None of the young cats are moving the needle and people are flocking to underground or old head stuff cuz they are sick of the state of things

we need a new Chief Keef

There will never be another Keef. All of these dudes nowadays pretty much just copy him with no originality.

So yeah this is excellent, probably better than it had any right to be after 15 years. The hooks, the production, it's all so good

The way I see it is all young new stuff is usually nba youngboy/lil durk/new york drill, opium crew (playboi/ken carson etc), bad bitch core (meg, glorilla, etc.), or memphis flow type rap and they're all rapping over the same kind of beats. Everyone copies flows and is a caricature of another and originality is punished.
Pretty much anyone worth anything has been around 10+ years. Even then the old heads are kinda stuck in their ways too and they either have a dated sound or are chasing the young sound. The alchemist is dope but we need some variety lol and I'm tired of hearing dudes over trap shit. Not that it can't be well done but everything is so homogenized. Even Kendrick man he's gotta switch it up.
Rap still has some great albums coming out every now and then but it is definitely not healthy rn. We need to get off of the clout chasing, tiktok style shit and stop rewarding biters but that's not gonna happen anytime soon. And switch up the damn lyrics and flows man it's insane how similar everyone sounds and how everyone is saying the same shit.

Can't lie I'm burnt out on Alchemist stuff too as much as I usually enjoy his beats. Oversaturation can be just as bad

Malice blacks out on every track here, I have the absolute highest respect for Push but Malice makes this album an event

Tried this again and there's a few beats I kinda like, but man the most of the delivery and especially the production feels so LIFELESS and sterile to me, just not my style I suppose. Gonna stick to the new Butcher release.
