Also Mantis, what bombing that he wanted to do? His diary literally says -

[on bombers] "They commit an atrocity whose horror either outweighs the impact of their message, or whose distance from their message prevents normies from connecting the dots.”

In the October 22 entry, Mangione went on to ask, “Do you bomb the HQ? No. Bombs=terrorism. Such actions appear the unjustified anger of someone who simply got sick/had bad luck and took their frustration out on the insurance industry, while recklessly endangering countless employees.”"

"anyway posting in this thread so i get reminders to click on it, and then click on it, and get upset enough at people liking bad music and having wrong opinions, to the extent it causes me to hop off the computer and do work instead"

You legit have no room to talk like this with the 5's you have.

@Nomos2 sure I'll elaborate. Everything the vocalist does in this band is for shock value. Whether or not he's actually intelligent remains to be seen. I've never been a fan of the tough guy fuck everyone who doesn't agree with my opinions vocalists. They're the same guys who go to metal shows and pick fights and ruin shit for everyone. Many of these types got local underground venues shutdown in the early 2000s specifically. When I used to be able to catch Darkest Hour, BTBAM, Caliban, Reflux, etc... every couple weekends a few blocks from my house. The political leaning groups always started shit, brought legitimate violence into the venue just to prove their points and got the cops involved. Considering the niche of metal in a small town as it is, adding that kinda drama to the mix sucked all the life out of it potentially sticking around. Regardless, it's not necessarily SFTP's fault .. and they actually played a couple of those shows I mentioned.. it's just annoying when the art and the artist cannot and will not be separated. For something subjective, it injects completely unnecessary baggage into the genre.

Anyway, I suppose I'm just bitter about the types of people their vocalist represents. Have your opinion but be a decent human being and let other opinions exist in the same space without being a pretentious tough guy.

Either way, the band still isn't all that great. Drummer is phenomenal.

They peaked heavily during the MYOH and Rising Sun days and then virtually just fell into a hole of mediocrity. Drew also wasn't as hyper-focused as making such too on the nose tough guy lyrics either before which is another reason the change doesn't work or even feel rightfully genuine.

Appreciate it nipplehair! I know literally nothing of this band.

I can't stand the toughuy frontman act at all either.
Fine line between impassioned art as a catharsis for social unrest and inequity....and whatever this appears to be (I'm giving credibility to the hate in here because I can't argue otherwise...yet). Or...uh...Code Orange. Look at that charade lmao. Embarassing.

But I'm a walking contradiction because, on the other hand, striking unrest leading to resistance, pressure en-masse, revolution, change, etc, are all very important, and usually started with a bang, and not a whimper. And it's not my place to say "keep it out of music" because music has and always will be important in imparting these types of messages to the people.

I'd be miffed too though if their prevelance in my hometown got too much to handle and lead to less shows. Because yeah, 9.9 times out of 10, I'm at a venue to turn my brain off and enjoy tunes with my buds and to get away from that precise type of escapism-ruining rhetoric.

I would enjoy this band way more if they had a less annoying whiny vocalist.

Yeah I was never a huge fan of the vocals but I don't mind them on here. The songs themselves go hard as bricks

Normally a stickler on Putney's drum tones but the drums on this album sound soooo good

why are we still attacking each other over 5's it's 2025

anyways as for this band i think im more open to give them a pass because they're going after the types that would want to kill me dead in the streets, it's righteous fury as opposed to "LOOK HOW TOUGH I AM" ala panterafingerdeathpunch type stuff

Armor For Sleep What To Do When You Are Dead

A seminal "emo"-pop album with a brooding concept surrounding death, regret, and reminiscing on a past relationship that went wrong. The dynamics of each song change enough to keep you engaged for ages. This is Armor for Sleep at their best; catchy, yet so, so dark.

At the Drive-In Relationship of Command

very excited for this, and the first single slapsrEDIT: yeah this rips, a lot more atmospheric than i was expecting for a "heavy" styled Bullet album. "Death by a Thousand Cuts" feels like if they took "Under Again" off Gravity and rewrote it in the style of their first album.
