The album art is definitely epic though.

Reminds me of some end of level boss in a Serious Sam game

Actually it reminds me more of Solaris from Sonic 06. Or Perfect Dark Gaia from Sonic Unleashed.

Huh people are very lukewarm on this, Didn't really expect that, I'm enjoying the hell out of this, easy 4. So many songs on here that stick after only a couple of listens.

The Work is their best album and I'll die on that hill.

Too streamlined now. Old harsh vocalist was a lot of what made them standout. Owls their peak.

Definitely not as into this as Owls or Monarchy but I'm a bit puzzled on why Sput seems to hate this band so much, aside from their cringe-ass lyrics. The Work was a bit too bloated for me to -love- it but I still enjoyed it a lot and re-visit it every so often. Owls is one of my favorite prog metal albums ever and Monarchy is a riff factory, if nothing else.

As far as this album goes, I'm kinda lukewarm on it. There were parts that I really enjoyed but a lot of it blended together in my 2 full listens so far. American Death fucking sucks though.

Can’t really blame them about the vocalist tho, didn’t he go deaf or something? Poor fuckin guy.

My understanding was he was born with a hearing disability and that had he continued with music he would have lost hearing completely so he was forced to leave.

Does suck because his voice was a major selling point for the band. That gravelly, almost withered old man scream was such an iconic part of Owls.

That’s such a terrible thing to happen to a musician. I’ve never seen it but it reminds me of that Sound of Metal movie

So it was his hearing? I thought Jake left (or was asked to leave) because of personal demons or something.
