Definitely their “prettiest” album to date.

Rocks so far. One of my all time favorite bands. Dudes have been on a roll since forever becoming.

The couple songs they played on tour with Russian Circles were EXTREMELY promising so I’ve been looking forward to this. Great review and I’ll be jamming this ASAP

Hmmmm I like this but it's pretty much just sounding "good" to me. Nice atmosphere and cool riffage but nothung that really puts it over the top for me.

Solid and entertaining for the most part. Not necessarily much different to their last few releases in terms of style and execution but it is a good album.

got a soft spot for these guys as they were one of the first bands i ever saw live, but this is some of the most boring mid post-metal out there. they've always been more good than great but the last album was maybe their best. this is devoid of anything interesting other than the guitars sound kinda nice

I wonder if I should get tickets to see them live. Unpopular opinion I guess but it's hard for me to enjoy live acts without any vocals at all.

If you have any passing interest in Pelican, I would absolutely see them live. They are so loud and heavy, and their entire change in ethos was in service of making their shows more entertaining (for themselves, as much as the audience).
There are a lot of bits in their writing from their last few that are looser, with transitions that could be uncharitably read as sloppy or slapdash, but really work live giving them a sort of super heavy jam band feel.

Not sure if like instrumental live?
Watch Russian Circles. I can't vouch for pelican, but RC is otherworldly good.

Russian Circles’ live show is so phenomenal. I think I’ve seen them 4 times and each time is better than the last. This tour’s setlist is especially potent, even with the more forgettable new songs

With instrumental bands in this genre, the live shows rip and the songs usually play out more like movements to a grander set.
Turn your brain off and forget studio versions exist, and just experience the heavy and loud noise

I think I'm the only one around here who is so bored with this sound.

This is embarrassingly bad. Shame too because everything up until City of Echoes is a post-metal classic.
