I assume you are just talking about the electric guitar, in which I agree with you. However, many older fans thought he sold out, so I thought I would add it in.

Its also important to remember that the screams of sellout by the folkies and beatniks way back when were without proper perspective. Or at least with time enough past to have proper perspective. The folkies saw "pop" music as shallow, without merit, and corporate. Because it seemed like it was all about selling records. Silly teenage girls screaming, the early Beatles. But Dylan changed all that. Single-handedly, basically. He gave the message by doing what he did that pop music could matter, that you could say something important through rock music, and it inspired a whole generation and beyond to not get their message across with soft folk songs but brutally hard, loud, and forceful rock n roll. He helped put the rebellion in rock n roll. Not the piss your parents off type, but the revolutionary type. So if that was selling out, I say kudos....

I don't see how playing in front of crows that boo you because you changed your sound makes you a sell-out. And the victoria secret's ad was pretty much a joke, since when asked what product he would do an ad for in a 60's news conference Dylan replied with "Woman's underwear."

If you wanna call him a sell-out for anything call him one for "Like A Rolling Stone" with that song he was conciously thinking about the charts. But who's going to say that about one of the best songs ever written?

The word sell-out is thrown around to often, it's basically a cliche. "He's made some money, what a sell-out! All musicians should be poor, or else there music is fake!"

I'm writing my own review B-) Nothing wrong with this one, I just disagree, and two great reviews are better than one!

Oh you!

I might post mine too... The album has grown on me a lot since I first listened to it.

EDIT: I'm settling on a 3,5. I'm being harsh here, it's definitely closer to a 4 than a 3. Working Man's Blues #2 is such a fantastic song.This Message Edited On 09.07.06

I haven't heard this, but I heard "Thunder On The Mountain", and when he said that line about "suckin' the milk out of a thousand cows" I decided he is without a doubt my favorite songwriter of all time. Plus his voice is so raspy he sounds like Macy Gray now.

I don't know which track I would pick as my favourite. Nettie Moore is really great, as are When The Deal Goes Down and Spirit On The Water.

Listened to it enough, to give it the mark I believe it deserves, may do a review on this myself. This Message Edited On 09.08.06

I have never had the chance to get into Bob Dylan. I doubt he is my cup of tea. I know that the critics have creamed their pants over this album but I assume I should look to his really old stuff if I want to get into him?

Highway 61 Revisited, Blood on the Tracks, and Blonde on Blonde would be where to start. My personal favorite being Highway 61 Revisited.

I second that. I usually tell people to check out Highway and Blood because they're his best electric and accoustic, respectively. I started out with those three but prefered Blood on the Tracks. Still do.

I'd recommend Bringing It All Back Home over Highway...simply because of the song It's All Over Now Baby Blue.

I love the first half of this album, very bluesy. As for the second half; it's good, but it sounds like he's channeling Neil Young.

The second half has Nettie Moore, Ain't Talkin' and most significantly Workingman's Blues so it's better than the first.

No effort? Do you have any idea how old this man is....it was an effort for him to sing in his youth!
