Spun this for two days straight. I might be biased because I'm coming straight out of listening to deafheaven's new LP but man this is lackluster.... I personally am not getting the straight two 4.5 reviews for this one. The production intentionally lo-fi raspy but it doesn't give it any novel quality and rather just sounds....muddy.
Once again, I feel like they jumped the gun with the singles. It's a pretty short album (only 37 mins total) and singles were the highlights and the new songs unfortunately feels like either fillers or unfinished. The muddy production does not help in this regard too.
Oh and they murdered Obsession here. The mix was proper horrible compared to the single release. Props to omik for mentioning this.

I mean, singles were great, really; nerv was proper manic, Silver Swarm was sexy, Tongues was cmd/ctrl worship that I can appreciate. Obsession was deftones done proper justice and is still my favorite song they released after TDP....but with the previous mix. (Seriously, just the fact they got rid of how the guitar pans to left in the intro to give space for vox was a bad bad signal for me that the mix was rushed or was an afterthought.)

Some punctuation issues and some run-ons, also just some weirdly phrased bits, but a mostly solid review that's fs not deserving of 6 negs. I mean, who really gives a rat's ass about negs at the end of the day, but still, looks silly considering it's the featured rev.
