To Drunken Viking: well, expect me to be there fighting against you at every turn. Except for AJFA, that album did kind of suck.

Okay, cool you guys agreed to disagree. Now no more argueing.

I'd just like to mention that I'm not arguing for Metallica, or sticking up for them in any way. I'm hoping everyone was able to figure that out, but just in case you didn't.
I would also like to point out the 3 and 1.5 this album has already recieved. This Message Edited On 08.31.06

Oh jesus no I still have to do RTL and AJFA.
I hope you're kidding. Seriously, just don't. Both those albums have enough reviews and it's just going to make you look bad. Like you just pick on Metallica. I just looked at your profile and the only negative reviews you've ever done are of Metallica. Find something better to do. I'm sure these guys aren't they only band you don't like.

Obviously I'm gonna do a few more review before then to aviod this. But in time I'll do that.

I hate reviewing a band more than once. Especially if it adresses similar thoughts.
If you want Metallica reviews with low scores, let someone else do them, instead of you doing them all.

Um no, he has the right to review whatever he wants and to say whatever he believes. Don't tell him what to do, even if you disagree with his rating.
(Listen to) Kill 'Em All then Master of Puppets and it must sound like pure gold. I mean MoP sucked, but KEA is just, well its hard to put into words.
Yet KEA and MoP got the same rating! That's the black mark of bias.

Ok, this is pretty much bs. You're not bashing metallica here, youre bashing thrash in general. All thrash bands are like this. Ill bet you would hate "Reign in Blood" by slayer. And thats fine, thrash isnt for everyone. But Metallica perfected thrash and deserve the respect for doing so. Stop acting like Metallica is the only band in the world that plays what you call "recycled/reused" riffs.
I liked how you ended saying no one should ever buy this album. This album is MADE for people who like thrash. If you dont like thrash then dont take it out on metallica alone.

the review is well written-- i will give him that. would it be considered bias if he backs up his arguement well??? in this case yes since he dislikes the band to begin with so obviously he already dislikes what he's going to hear and nothing in the world could ever change his mind about the album/band. Whatever, DV you hate Metallica and you point it out well what exactly you hate about them so it never bothered me what you wrote in the review. it's actually very good, but I dunno, knowing that it wasn't written without a single ounce of unbias totally kills it because it's public knowledge you hate this band and no matter what in the world you will never have anything positive to say.
I guess I'm just rambling on, still i think someone earlier wrote "bashing on bands everyone hates is fun" is utter stupidity. Only because I hate a popular band *FALL OUT BOY!!!* doesn't mean i will go to FOB's album listing every day just to comment my utter dislike for them. that's stupid. i guess that's just me, but whatever

The riffs don't all sound similar, and the guitar solo's were rather good. If you don't like them, get angry at Dave Mustaine, he wrote them, not Kirk. Kirk is far more melodic. The bass is also rather good compared to the pick weilding nu-metal bassists of today.

I'll wade here since my comment was deleted with the original review
There is now way you can say this album is unoriginal and know what you are talking about.
Scenario 1; I am a teenybopper 15 year old and recently got into Metallica via one of their later albums. I see Kill 'em All and say to myself "hey you sexy devil, you loved that cd you bought, how about checking out where these groovers started?". So you listen to the album, and hate it cos its so raw and sounds like everything out now.
Scenario 2; I am a 20 or 30-odd year old. I started listening to metal ages ago and was either old enough to listen to this album when it first became widely available, or was made to listen to it by a friend before many bands sounded like this.
Hmmm, which scenario do you fall under? I personally am scenario 2, and cannot under any circumstances allow anyone say this is unoriginal. In 1983, how many bands sounded like this? Not many. So take you comments and stick them. I personally don't love this album, and rate their next three albums amongst the best ever.
*takes breath*
Think about the original context for the album you want to discuss before making stupid comments...

I agree completely with ^^ BICEPMAN!!! (sorry when I read that name I could only think of a superhero commenting on this album)
I'm not thirty nor twenty... yet, but yeah this isn't unoriginal but I personally do not this album as much as other fans might, but is still pretty kick ass (i.e. PHANTOM LORD).
|
| |
hmm.. well said bicepman. Just because of my age i would fall under Scenerio #2. But nobody could ever get me into Metallica very much. (i.e. PANTY DROPPER) < my new superhero name

Ok we got it you hate metallica. Now stop making reviews of them. Try reviewing something you actually like and enjoy listening to.
