Not sure if I'm going to like this or not, judging by the mixed reactions.
Will listen soon and report back.

Saw him live in 2018, it was an excellent show. Great musicians on stage and I enjoyed his dry humor between songs lol.

slowly coming around to this. in the words of the great american poet Andrew Belew: "I like it!"

Perfectly enjoyable proggier album from him but didn't leave a big impression. I think I prefer The Harmony Codex but this is probably a little more consistent I'd say. Almost feels like an EP but interested to hear the bonus songs.

Apparent genius always seems to make the most boring music possible, agreed. I feel like this man has a disease where he cannot feel emotions and does not put them whatsoever into his music. So bland and flat. Even his more touted solo work I've hardly been able to give the time of day.

Big Stevie fanboy but i can say this definitely rewards repeated listens. His approach to composition here makes for a far less dense experience than I was expecting, for better or for worse. This could've been twice as long and not really overstayed its welcome. What's here is interesting and shows maturity but it could go so much further

Mostly great, just takes a bit to get going and could’ve been longer. I at least feel mostly satisfied with my wish I had commented in the Harmony Codex thread a few months ago, for Wilson to make an On an Island by David Gilmour type album of beautiful, atmospheric, lush art rock with ambient flourishes like What Life Brings and Staircase type songs.
Objects: Meanwhile (very HCE which I love), No Ghost on the Moor/Heat Death, A Beautiful Infinity/Borrowed Atoms (sounds very Stupid Dream to me), and then the big finish with Infinity Measured in Moments (very Home Invasion/Regret #9 I thought) are fantastic. Permanence is a lovely soundscape too, no voiceover which is nice, could’ve been 10+ min. long.

The last 8 minutes of the title track is so great

like this a bit more as the version separated into individual tracks, can just skip to the good stuff without listening to 10 minutes of mind numbing spoken word
Objects: Meanwhile is a really good one, reminds me of Time Flies

Yeah I hear that in Objects: Meanwhile. The title track starting at 4:15-to the end is excellent.

After first listen.. It's better than the last two albums, however I'm still figuring out the overall concept and what I just listened to. Nothing here was super standout, wished the second half were individual songs not linked to the sounds of the first disc... However, still interesting. Could've been tighter. His high pitched voice over top of synths n such needs to go however, I hated that. That reminds me Will Ferrell singing high pitch at the Carolina Wine Mixer. Definitely an album that needs a second or third listen.

This isn't bad but like many have stated here, it seems to be a grower.

I'll take some time before rating this. But so far, it's his first album since To The Bone that I actually enjoy. I prefer listening to it with the tracks separated, it makes it a lot easier to evaluate. So far "Meanwhile" is definitely one of the highlights.
