Thats actually perfect tbh. Dominator, Mirrorshades, Welcome Home Warrior and Ask What Happened are def my clear highlights after one jam but this is pretty consistently awesome.

Dodger and Ask What Happened are peak but man this whole thing is just growing on me more and more.
Also the vinyl for this looks insane, some of the coolest packaging I've ever seen

I guess the way I'd put it is I get the theme and aesthetic of the album without a fuck tonne of interludes, and 50 minutes of Daveed vocals is a lot.

Addiction to blood and visions are just a tad better then this imo, but this shit still slaps.
Why Polaroids is not being called Story #8 (or what number are we on) is the biggest mystery of the record.

Just jammed this again. Such a fun and trippy listen. Really great stuff.

"Polaroids is not being called Story #8 (or what number are we on) is the biggest mystery of the record"
there is actually Story 6 hidden on the CD version of this album lol

I added ‘Change the Channel’ to increase my edit of this to 35 minutes…but as a tighter listen I think this is real good, need to return to their others because this has definitely cemented a 4.
Wild the two most drum n bass tracks are the best, actually good variety on this.

I did something similar and made an edited version of this. Ask What Happened, Dodger, and Keep Pushing are my vote for 3 best tracks. Also like Change the Channel, Dominator, and Mirrorshades. Those first 2 tracks in particular tho, so good. I think Ask What Happened matches the beauty and atmosphere of Enlacing

‘Keep Pushing’ is great yeah, the opener is still good n’ goofy too, very typical of their style though

Yeah I dig the opener and it’s a highlight for me but it can’t match up to Say the Name. Actually, both that and Neve Campbell is a better one two punch than Dominator/Change the Channel. I think this album maintains forward momentum better tho; there are some noticeable pitfalls on Visions of Bodies

Definitely, before this I always felt there was a 3.5 ceiling for me with them, the albums seemed to drag a little with not enough variety.

Totally understandable. I think I gave a pretty inflated 4.5 rating to Visions because 1) it was very new to me at the time and I hadn't heard much (if any) horrocore before, and 2) it's a great halloween-y album, which I honestly don't have many of lol. It's something I have to be in the headspace for tho, whereas this is more catered to casual anytime listening. I'm skipping through Visions atm and I still love a lot of these tracks, but there are times where it's just like wtf are you guys even doing? 3 mins of utensils being tossed around, a 4 minute field recording of nature sounds, walls of ear bleedingly loud static, etc. I mean, it all goes towards contributing to the album's aesthetic, but I find some of it borderline annoying now.

Haven't end-to-ended Visions for ages so won't die on this hill, but I respect that alb's aesthetic setpieces more than the janky shrapnel this one is peppered with. Can see the argument that shorter interludes are loss obtrusive, but they all feel so dispensable
Opening salvo of bangers is p tight, but ngl this has lost its way since - on Mirrorshades, and so far that, Keep Pushing and the last min or so of Dodger have been the only points since Code that have stuck with me (Scams might have had a few bars, will have to come back to that one). Agree with the review on the reheated business-as-usual impression

Last track is the best and the one before it is also good but I just can't get into Aesop Rock. This was like a 3 on first listen for me.

wasn't expecting the closer to bringing in drukqs melodies and (albeit basic) beats, alb definitely stepped up for the last three tracks. still not sold at all on that middle run though, but we'll see where it goes from here

I mean, if you remove the 1 min tracks (which I def do), then this: "on Mirrorshades, and so far that, Keep Pushing and the last min or so of Dodger have been the only points since Code that have stuck with me (Scams might have had a few bars, will have to come back to that one)" doesn't seem as bad because it only amounts to a couple actual songs in between.

I really hate how hard I had to go in on them for this review because damn this album is fun. Still a personal 3.5 and I jam "Dominator", "Run It", and "Mirrorshades" in the car all the time
