Yeah, TPAB also has GKMC and MM as his super serious conceptual releases. It's great that they are there and I hope he has another one of those in him.
But this is just so damn fun. MMM BOP BEEP BOOP BOP BAM I'M ON THE TYPE OF SHIT YOU WOULDN'T UNDERSTAND

I really don’t think the “artsy” stuff on TPAB pushed the boundaries of the genre, like, not at all. I wouldn’t even use “artsy” to define TPAB, it’s just a hyper polished/sterilized rap album with jazz flourishes and political messaging for the lowest common denominator

I used artsy just to be a little cheeky lol

>I'm also of the belief every Kendrick release doesn't need to be some earth shattering shit.
It doesn’t but a play-it-safe ode to the west coast is just kind of boilerplate for even an average hip hop vet. I just have always had higher hopes for the guy who dropped cartoon and cereal :|

This isn't even an ode to west coast. This isn't g-funk or gangsta sounding. It sounds like every other bullshit modern rapper right now.

“ On “reincarnated,” he flips a Tupac sample into a heady exploration of the lives of Billie Holiday and Chuck Berry, before settling on a conversation with his own father (who is also God) about why he was sent to Earth to protect culture and community”
lol I didn’t pay attention on this one but I’m pretty sure I dislike this track 10x more after reading this.

Fr man, hard to believe this is the same guy who made GKMC

I think it's okay if you guys don't like the album for actual reasons, but saying this isn't an ode to the west coast is just plain wrong lol

GKMC was more of an ode to the west coast

Well, the actual reason for me is it’s just a super boring album that sounds kind of generic and foregoes all the things that made me fall in love with Kendrick in the first place

Even the gnx is -at its core- a disappointment, lacking in the single most important hallmark every legendary vehicle shares: a manual transmission. Not even Leno would bother with it

It’s a sweet ride but Buick has always been shite, it’s unthinkable that a car like that would be offered in automatic only. Even roy lunn had the presence of mind to include a manual in the ford gt despite American automakers quickly switching to auto only offerings even all the way back in the 60s. Shit talkin' Buick to a Michigan boy? Tsk tsk. I'll forgive it for now. But they were family cars.

don’t you be talking bad about the GNX. le manuel meme is just circlejerking. they specifically designed the automatic so the boost never dropped off. my uncle owned a grand national and it was more fun than the corvette he replaced it with.
