i think this and hunting party are the 2 weakest for me but still solid, some melodies and stuff just kinda don't work for me and sound off but there's some good peaks, one more light sticks more in the brain emotionally even tho it's super hated
LP to me lives and dies by its emotional resonance

I don't know which review I should pick to comment on, whatever I'll just choose this one. Now that the dust has settled maybe we can finally talk about the music itself.
As an old school LP fan the general consensus from me is: Approved!
To make a long story short - the only thing missing is Joe Hahn (who has been criminally underutilized since Meteora). They had a great shot at bringing him back for an entire solo track or something. I don't get it. Missed opportunity for a 'Cure for the Itch 2.0'
Best picks: The Emptiness Machine, Heavy is the Crown and Stained. The last one in particular is banging. The voice of the new vocalist is very 50/50, you'll either love or hate her.
Album art is pretty cool too though I wish they had returned to "The Soldier" as an inspiration.

Musically they for the first time retread old ground in a transparent and slapdash manner; I’m really not sure what there is to be excited about here.

Damn I wish they had just stuck to their sound all those years and made songs like Two Faced with Chester.

I threw this on and reminded myself to have an open mind but I didn't think this was even remotely good. It's not Emily Armstrong, she does more than fine on this record but the overall songs besides emptiness machine seem like dishonest cuts where the band barely had any inspiration or creativity. I know Linkin Park doesn't have to be the be all end of musicianship and depth but this is just flat for a half hour

I'll admit, a big chunk of this album feels like nostalgia bait for fans of the classic albums, and yeah, I've been baited. I can’t help but feel excited that Linkin Park is back being heavy again, even if it feels a bit recycled. I’ve been hoping for a Linkin Park nu metal return for over ten years, so I’m definitely happy about this. On the other hand, "Good Things Go" stands out as something fresh compared to their older stuff; I can’t really picture Chester belting that one out, but Emily really shines on it. Definitely one of my favorite LP songs post Meteora and a high song of the year contender. Hoping for more fresh ideas in the next coming years. If they do more nostalgia after this, that's when I'm gonna he kinda heated. The whole Scientology angle is a bit of a downer, for sure, but it seems like Emily didn’t choose that path for herself. Still, I totally understand why some folks might be put off by it.

@Pho3nix yeah good call haha, I sometimes forget Joe Hahn is even in the band, definitely during their 2010s stint. A Cure for the Itch 2.0 would have been really cool.

Singles are easily the best part of the album, sadly. IGYEIH is also pretty banging, but a lot of the tracks here just sorta elicited no reaction from me at all. Kinda sad, I had such high hopes for this album

No Chester = the MAGIC is gone
Pretty good album dough

I checked Casuality just out of curiosity because the melonman said that Shinoda did some decent "growly" vocals. And fuck yeah he did, he sounds almost exactly like Page Hamilton from Helmet in his prime. Makes sense since i know that Helmet was a big influence on him (and featured on THP), and i'm kinda suprised to see how much he excelled at it

'Two Faced' is good, that's about the only song that stuck with me.
