That song is top 5 for me but I wouldn't say it throws the curve or anything like that for me.
I guess it might be the most 'different' sounding song on the album so I do get where you're coming from.

yeah calling And Nothing Is Forever the runaway best track is odd to me. definitely a fantastic track, but Warsong, Fragile Thing, and the bookends are as good

mixing on this is distractingly bad.

I think the plan is to retire after the 50th anniversary, so he's got 2 years to get those last 2 albums out (unless they don't count the Malice/Easy Cure era in which case they have until 2028). I'm sure I remember he originally wanted the Ross Robinson collab to be a trilogy but when the self-titled got a lukewarm reception at best, that fell through. We can only see what the final few years hold for The Cure. Probably a lot of intensive touring with Rob having a clear end in sight.

So now I played the whole album on youtube (not just the live show). I am definitely going to get the album (was going to after hearing just the live show). Maybe Barnes and Noble at the crummy mall I work at has the cd. They are a popular enough band for them to carry that. There isn't a bad song here. There isn't even an only average song on here. Every song is a 4 or 5 at worst. I didn't expect this album to be this good. Even the new Depeche Mode album that I probably should have bought, but never did wasn't this good.
Anything lower than a 4 overall for this album just seems factually wrong. Heh I know people can have their different opinions, but damn this is a masterpiece to me.

I’m listening to the most cracking snare I’ve ever heard in my life over some of the most beautiful atmosphere literally ever and some dudes over here chirping about bad mixing like bro if that’s your criticism about this album get a fucking life

This is the album I didn’t know I needed. The whole thing’s stunning, sounds fresh while retaining most of their signature moves. I found my peace with 4:13 Dream over the years, but was shaking my head upon its release. I’m so relieved I don’t feel anything like that now.

This is reminiscent of the heyday.
Captivating, engrossing, unlike anything else and as a result it is exciting.
I haven’t been this ‘in love’ with an album since Ten in 1992 lol.

shame I didn't get around to checking this on release day, but excited to get around to it in the near future

For what it's worth the next album is already basically done. I hope Bodiam Sky is on it. The lyrics were accidentally left in the booklet for the deluxe editions as it was removed at the last minute, but I'm sure it'll get released eventually.

"The lyrics were accidentally left in the booklet for the deluxe editions as it was removed at the last minute..."
Boy, I really hope somebody got fired for that blunder.
Nah, that's good news. If their next is even half as good as this, I'd be content.
Edit: Didn't even see that they featured both reviews at the same time. It's Cure season.

Probably, had this feeling after being 5 mins into Endsong and not missing the vocals.

Ok I'm now exited and afraid

Only problem was my copy of the album was faulty: 2:20 into And Nothing Is Forever on the instrumental disc, it starts skipping and then goes silent for a few seconds. Gonna exchange it later.
