i mean i feel ya, sub everything you said about this and apply it to the last album, which is one of the worst albums ive ever heard by anybody (and yes coloratura is awful) and i feel the same way so we all draw our lines differently. by no means do i think this album is ideal, really think they should have stopped a decade ago

Coldplay used to be one of my all-time favorite bands. I haven't seriously checked anything by Coldplay since Mylo Xyloto and it's very apparent that I haven't missed much. Not gonna start here, especially if Sowing hates it to this degree.

@JWT155 Agreed, the stark difference and decline between their earlier stuff (even the B-sides!) and now... Oof.

listen to the first 5 songs and bonus tracks from ghost stories + arabesque + flags and you've heard all the nu coldplay you need. def check midnight at least, by far their best track post viva

but yea some oldplay b sides totally shoulda been album tracks, crests of waves and gravity woulda been big highlights on rush and x&y respectively

I think hearing "Sky Full Of Stars" ad nauseum over department store radios is all the new Coldplay I could ever need...

"Crest of Waves" is an excellent track. "Ran Away" could have been another golden single for them too. Some of their B-sides are my favorites.

Hmm, you may just yet convince me to cherry-pick some of their new stuff, bubs.

honestly even though i dont like it very much everyday life is probably worth at least one listen just bc it pulls such different responses out of everybody. they definitely left their comfort zone for better or worse

ghost stories i would not advise hitting in full lol but its got some cool high points, namely the opener, ink, the title track and my beloved midnight

theres stuff on here i kinda like, think jupiter + the run from tracks 6-9 holds its own okay, but i probably wouldnt rec any of it. wouldnt say i love any of those songs

dreams and spheres have their defenders but i would fully skip all of them myself lol, but most people like coloratura more than me

I think I could rate this as highly as a 1.5 or 2, but it'd take time and the ability to swallow this thing's overbearing cheesiness. We will see.

Also there's a Full Moon version of this on Spotify, whatever that means. Going to brace myself and dive in.

feel like if you subbed we pray, good feelings, and the closer with karate kid, man in the moon, and a wave you plug most of the holes i have with this. maybe make rainbow the closer as well but edit angelsong specifically into it to extend the sigur ros sounding part and not the dumbass field recording lmao

I was literally just trying to make a better version of this that is more ambient/piano than garbage pop but then I realized there's not enough of the former to make an album so I just embraced the glittery pop and am making the best combination that I can out of that.

the way i have it only aeterna and feelslike really fit that glitter template but i also use the piano version of i am a mountain too. i think aeterna's shifts between e flat minor and b flat minor are kinda cool for a more glittery track of theirs

Ok I have it divided up into 2 experiences lol. We will see if this leads to the inevitable score bump or not, but a few notes: (1) fuck this band's capitalization/emojis, and (2) the stupid segue at the end of either title track version make it impossible for any song other than feelslikeimfallinginlove to be track #2, so on the somber/ambient version, I apologize for the abrupt transition. I tried my best. Will maybe put these into Spotify playlists later on, but feel free to give this a whirl in the meantime if you feel so inclined to listen to a 2.5 instead of a 1. 😆

Bright Side of the Moon ("Pop" Album/Best Possible Complete Album):

1. MOONMUSiC

2. feelslikeimfallinginlove

3. WE PRAY

4. The Karate Kid

5. iAAM

6. Man in The Moon

7. JUPiTER

8. GOOD FEELiNGS

9. AETERNA

10. ALL MY LOVE

11. ONE WORLD

Dark Side of the Moon (Somber Ambient/Mood Album):

1. Moon Music - Elodie

2. The Karate Kid

3. Man in The Moon

4. i Am A Mountain

5. ALL MY LOVE

6. Angelsong

7. (Rainbow)

8. (Wave)

9. ONE WORLD

yea that 2nd tracklist is def better than how they released everyday life for sure

but yeah i did have to use audacity to massage all of my edits, but i do that to everything anyway. like with foxing i chopped all of dead cat except the part that leads into dead internet but have that fade out from gratitude and it sounds seamless enough that i forget it wasnt official sometimes lmao

I'm not a huge fan of their new affinity for releasing these ambient field recordings or whatever. Best songs on Everyday Life were when they leaned passsionately into social commentary (Trouble in Town, Arabesque). I'd take more of that because that's the closest they've come to making something on par with Viva La Vida.

Also, for what it's worth, my "pop/best combo" tracklist I'm kinda vibing with. I guess the inevitable Coldplay bump will be forthcoming...

trouble in towns lyrics are so bad to me man. some of my least favorite theyve ever written. their social commentary is pretty puddle deep and exposes their limitations as a band really glaringly to me. thats why im more okay with this because they arent out of their depth
