The album this most reminds me of is No More Shall We Part (which is a good thing!)

Yeah I get the vibe of Abbatoir/Lyre... I wish this sounded more like No More Shall We Part but I am in love with it regardless. I think in 10 years this will be looked at as an album in the top half of his releases for sure

Yeah I’m having less and less complaints with this by the listen

My only slight whinge is that some of the lyrics are a little cheesy, but they sort of suit the style of music I guess.

Yeah for as incredible of a songwriter Cave is sometimes he hits you with a "Starts with the heart" or something similarly pedestrian... not sure why he does this once in awhile. I think a songwriter of his caliber would steer away from such things. This album man....wow. Song of the Lake just explodes out of the speakers from second 1

the first line of O Wow really sticks out as an all-time Cave clunker here lol. shame because the message from Anita at the end of that song hits really hard, powerful stuff

Yeah something about 66 year old Cave talking dropping the word "panties" just seems like an odd choice

I certainly pretended that did not occur, yet not sure I can ignore written documentation itt like that, ugh!

Haha, maybe the only moment on the album i shrug a little, but dont think it would be better if he said trousers or knickers lol

I was underwhelmed by Frogs as a single because the closing section of Wild God was just way too good in comparison but now that I have spun the record like 8 times I think Frogs stands out as the highlight with Cinnamon Horses. Only song I don't really love is O Wow
