I like the lower gain tones they've used on this and Vile. The trems sound unreal m/m/

Thank you PumpBoff, appreciated!

Great review as always, need to listen asap.
While I'm huge on the Karl Sanders solo work, Those Whom the Gods Detest - which I listened to 24/7 when it came out - is the only Nile album I have fully listened to.

you have a lot to look forward to then
|

^^Definitely
I can only ascribe my Nile ignorance to the fact that I (try to) listen to as many genres and obscure bands as I can, randomly, and I forget to cover some of the metal essentials…

Haven't listened to Nile since Ithyphallic but now I'm interested
Their earlier work fucking rules

Get on it Lucca bro. Their best since AOTW.

About to work out in like 15 min so I'll do it then!
Also apparently their 2009 album rules according to this site, so I have to check that out at some point also

Thank you for the remark Voivod!
I’m sometimes at the same boat, there’s distinct periods when I almost forget all of essential extreme metal for lesser known acts, but then when I do opposite, I feel like I’m missing from the underground. And so on goes the cycle!
Hawks that’s a bit harsh for TWTGD haha

Production is perfect here. Drum sound is godly. Refreshing to hear lightning fast dm drums without that overproduced, digitized sound

'Get on it Lucca bro. Their best since AOTW.'
I'm inclined to agree. This one is indeed their best since AOTW.

Enjoying this so far, but does anyone else think the production feels a bit too compressed?

No, you are the only one, sorry.
Production is CRISP.

To strike with secret fang is awesome. Never thought I'd say this, but death metal-wise I prefer the Job for a Cowboy record from this year though

I haven't had enough time to sit down and listen to it yet. I'm just going to go ahead and give it a 4. I already know haha

this is a great time and Naqada II is one of my favorite death metal songs this year. though I'd have put True Gods and its chunky "God of Emptiness" vibe two spots higher to break up that run of shorter, faster songs.

Album is definitely the best they've done since Annihilation of the Wicked.
