@evilford are you serious? That's impressive

To that sad bloke who has never heard this band, damage done, character and fiction are god tier melodeath records. Listen immediately.

--we are the void has some bangers...especially iridium--
I think that's the only song I really love from that album.
--Fredrik left the band in 1999 so it was 25 years ago. RIP.--
Fixed. For some reason I thought he left in 2019.
--winter's gate best insomnium agreed--
Agreed.
--Funny both in flames and DT put out endtime albums--
I think it's kind of the theme for a lot of bands to one extent or another (not just metal) post-2020.

--I still think Unforgivable is the best track they’ve released in a long time though.--
That song isn't bad. I get definite Character vibes from that song and the melodic leads are some of the best on the album.
--Construct is better than moment and atoma--
Agree with that, too.
--"False Reflections" Trey is this your fav song? --
It really is. It should be less surprising once you learn that Projector and Construct are my favorite DT releases. I love that melancholic side of DT. I love his clean singing, the doom-ish leads, and the Depeche Mode-inspired electronics.
Johan Reinholdz did contribute to the songwriting on Moment...--
See the response from hexfix93 below your post. That interview was exactly what I was going to reference.

DT are one of my favourite bands, but honestly, I find The Halo Effect's release better than anything DT have done since Fiction. Excited for the follow up next year

I really liked Halo Effect's debut. I don't know if I am looking forward to more of the same from their second album, though. I would say it's up there with the last two DT releases, but not better than Construct.

construct is the best post-Character dark tranquillity album

"construct is underappreciated af, one of their best"
Wouldn't go that far but it's a good record yeah. Interesting production values.

Man I understand people got families to feed but DT really just phoning it in this last decade hey
|
| |
At least they didn't go the In Flames route I guess. Better safe than sorry?

Construct was really good. It’s about on par with Atoma, though atoma edges ahead a little bit. I thought Halo Effect’s debut was grossly overrated and that latest single has me even less enthused.

Yeah for as much as I love dm (which is practically immeasurably), I really don't care for the majority of melodeath at all

I'm not sure if there's a DT album you'd like in full.
You'd probably like most of The Gallery. Maybe Of Chaos and Eternal Night EP just because so many sick riffs, but prolly more melodic than you're used to. And I'd assume some songs off The Mind's I and maybe Skydancer, but pretty sure you'd hate some songs too lol.
Not sure how you'd feel about Damage Done era, probably too melodic for your taste. Riffs hard though. DT doesn't sound much like most other melodeath bands tbh. But you definitely wouldn't like stuff like Haven, and avoid WATV and anything that came after.

| |
Nothing they've done is under a 3.5 for me. Hope this doesn't change that lol. Gonna jam shortly.

"I really don't care for the majority of melodeath at all"
Same for me. The Gallery is still a piece of dm history and worth a listen.

Still dig Unforgivable a lot but that's about it

"At least they didn't go the In Flames route I guess. Better safe than sorry?"
Anders singing sucks but the new in flames was more interesting than this. In flames still sounds like they're having fun. This sounds like just going through the motions
