Their very vast number of albums has always been intimidating for me, so I've never actually given a listen to them. Where should I start? Is this one good to start with?

Yo @Araz, check this site out: https://www.get-into-gizz.com/
It may help guide you to a starting point more to your liking. Their style is incredibly diverse, so some albums may work for you and others don't

"band is always try-hard catering to the "rOcK iS nOt DeAd!¡!¡" crowd"
What kind of thoughtless take is this? Erm...is it because they made an Americana rock style album? I'm dying for you to explain this statement.

the statement shouldn't need much explanation as it's relatively on-the-nose but I'll further it by saying they constantly throw shit at the wall hoping something sticks to catch the attention of fans of rock classics, except they almost always miss and throw it out the window. Nothing all that wrong with recycling sounds and styles of their idles and influences but making it sound as stale and soulless as possible with each album (and dear god there are so many) is truly a feat
also calling this album Americana is smooth-brained at worst and incorrect at best

Fun stuff. Opener undeniably good too. Funny how this band just be out there doing what they enjoy and it never fails to invoke such intense vitriolic rage from the chronically online. Keep it real ladies

I don't know what album you've been listening to if you've not been able to hear how it's inspired by that that style of music, but hey, arguing semantics/genre definitions is tiresome and pedantic.
Your reply is as vapid as your "appealing to the rock ain't dead crowd" bullshit. You've just said you don't like their music. Fair enough, completely, but if you're gonna come up with inane bollocks to try sound on the absolute cutting edge of music forum chat, at least have the nous to be able to come up with an iota of justification for it.
Who are the "rock ain't dead crowd" and how does this band appeal to them? Are the metal albums doing that too, or just the ones that are more rocky...like...this one?...the garage rock ones? I guess? Are garage rock fans the "rock ain't dead" crowd? It ain't adding up pal.

Lmao I did very directly answer your “Who are the "rock ain't dead crowd"” question (since you need elaboration beyond "fans of rock classics" and "recycl[ed] sounds and styles of their idles and influences", people who see the folks saying "rock IS dead" and searching for music reminiscent of various tried and true styles to counter with that ultimately boils down to tired unoriginality and music devoid of any progression or experimentation). But hey if you didn’t like the response because I was also calling out their musty chops at the same time then plz go off queenie, keep yelling at clouds

Got really cranky in here.
I just dont think Ill ever get into these lads. Respect their drive but at what point does Quality Vs Quantity come into play with them.
|
| |
gizzard simps handwringing about the 'chronically online' as though shitty viral hype isn't the online reason anyone here was talking about this shitty viral band to begin with is a great pot black/kettle black flop
