This is growing on me by the listen. There may only be subtle variation within and between albums, but no one else does what they do - they really are quite unique.

And romance is a good word - it's such a close, intimate and insular listen; like there are only two people who exist in the world.

Does this work live? Has anyone seen them? They are touring Australia in 2025, but I just can't see how it would work in a huge arena. They've always been a curl up in bed at night and drift off to sleep kind of band for me...

It's more like you'd want that typical 'torch singer' type setting for this music, a small theatre or a large'ish bar. That level of intimacy.

All those band name variations sent me. Great review. I'm not sure if I've ever heard anything by these guys before, may as well start here.

I like this band's vibe a lot, but the last two albums have kinda felt like pale reflections of the first record. 3.5 might be too high, but that's my rating for now.

lol the lyrics are not good but it really doesn’t matter with this music. Pretty incredible the lack of growth in 5 years. The parts I liked just seemed like rehashes of old material, prob a 2/5 if I got all the way through it

I like this significantly more than Cry, but yeah - debut is still the standard.

They are playing two concerts in Melbourne's largest indoor venue (Rod Laver Arena). I had no idea they were that popular here - or anywhere really...

god this band rly should've called it quits after their debut. like they managed to get away with "i know full well that you are the patron saint of sucking cock" as a chorus while retaining a whole ~ mysterious ~ aura (cannot stress enough how much of a feat that is) but then everything after that just showed that they're overly horny middle aged one trick ponies lmao. will check this tho < 3

Tejano Blue, Hideaway, Holding You, Holding Me, Baby Blue Movie, Dreams From Bunker Hill and Ambien Slide are my favourites.

What are your favourites Doof? (since you're one of the few here whose ears actually work...)

Listening to this and it isn't as memeable as I imagined it would be, but I can totally imagine one of those sexy tiktok chefs molesting cake batter to this and that isn't helping

I struggle a bit with the opener because I find the vocal production a little jarring, but the only other songs I don't connect with are Hot and maybe Dark Vacay.

Tejano Blue is one of the best singles I've heard all year from anyone.

mj, 'Hideaway' and the last two songs are my favourites here.

I guess 'Hot' is perhaps the one that makes the least impression on me, but nothing breaks the spell really.

I liked 'Cry' once it had settled on me, 'Kiss It Off Me' is my most played song by them now I think.
