Production here is ace and the Lil Nas X feature actually rules but this girl herself is pretty cringe lol. Also the City Girls/Drake features make me wanna die.

Okay I can understand that, the reason I'm still giving the album a shot is because I really enjoy the production throughout too. I was looking up the producers just to see if snyone had done anything like Chanel no.5 on their own time, and it seems like this hyperpop sound is pretty new for all of them too, despite all of them having long, successful careers
The harsher, airier moments of this actually remind me almost of Lapalux, if you've got the time I'd hella recommend their song Falling Down

So did she rip off Brat like twitter said?

Brat wipes the floor with this. Idk if its a ripoff as much as its just kinda the same vibe only this is shit lol.

Thanks bros. We need to keep Drake far away from club music for the rest of our lives

It would be nice if he just disappeared into thin air.

Not sure what's cringe about her, although obviously everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I think she has a nice voice.

Her voice isn't bad I agree. I think its more the fact that it seems like she's trying to be overly sexual that is cringe to me. I pretty much agree with what Fowl said lol.

Ah okay, yeah no qualms with that. It doesn't irk me for whatever reason. I find that lyrics like that are pretty common across mainstream pop.

That's exactly my issue. I love the production of lots of modern pop but man sometimes the lyrics/overall vibes are just not my cup of tea.

sexual content in and of itself is fine with me, but similar to earlier comments, the problem here is that she doesn't have nearly enough personality to own it

Sometimes it can just be TOO much imo. Sexuality in music is fine with me for sure and its unavoidable but when artists try too hard is when I go in the other direction.

"when I go in the other direction"

🤷♂️
It's fair enough, no point in debating personality when it's subjective.
I knew this would draw mixed reactions, they're a little more negatively skewed than I might have anticipated but it's all good. I'm enjoying this a lot and it is definitely somewhere within my top 3 pop albums of the year so far.

Now the Ha Vay album u reviewed is a straight up banger of a pop album.

Uhhhh not sure what I gain from wading into this again but herewegoooo
In this case, I really think Charli is a good comparison. Take her bonus track Guess off Brat: its VERY crass and openly sexual, but unlike a lot of the stuff off of this album, Guess gives "I fantasize about everything I sing about" energy; meanwhile Camilla feels like she has no agency in her sexuality and she's doing it all entirely to please the guy she's into. It's submissive to a fault, to the point of becoming almost captive and inauthentic, which is probably why I like pretty when i cry so much, because its the one moment where Camilla's inauthentic, chameleon act doesn't get her what she wants and she's forced to process it

"she's doing entirely to please the guy she's into"
i feel that this can still amount to a distinct personal edge tbh (----> CRJ's entire career). being submissive or needy doesn't necessarily imply a lack of agency or personality as an artist
"inauthentic, chameleon act"
...whereas this is right on the mark

Yeah Hawks, that album rules. Hidden gem energy.
Fowl, that's probably the best argument against this that you've made so far. It doesn't change how much I enjoy it obv, but it explains what you and presumably many others find inauthentic about the lyrics beyond just "sex lyrics very bad". So, the analysis is appreciated 👍
