As the review says, I also like that the opener is quite broad in outlook and then with the second song you go smaller and look at one individual different perspective

Sociometer Blues is really nice
This is just a bit too slow / spoken word for me and a bit late for a pandemic album imho

And everyone's so fucking pretty
And I drink on my own
If you want me, you can get me on the phone

As Days Get Dark was AOTY, this is an acceptable (but secretly mildly disappointing) attempt to double down on what made it so great lyrically while expanding both its rock and indie pop palettes in ways that mostly clash with one another. Can see people gravitating to these lyrics more if they're that on board with the theme, but ADGD was a far more cohesive record instrumentally

Turn your brain off Johnny this is just straight bangers.
In all seriousness though I actually think a primary highlight of this album for me is just how cohesive the on paper varied instrumental elements come across, this album is smooth as buttah, no clashing at all.
