I'm indifferent between the two albums, I just can groove to this one more where as the other one I am just more impressed by it's technicality.

honestly i thought effloresce was really great in parts and really boring in others, and this was pretty damn good all around
so if frames is better than this than i guess i'm in for a treat

Frames is a completely different beast, more prog and less commercial than this but not as heavy as this or effloresce, except for that one song that sounds like meshuggah

you gotta give it a few listens, the songs are all over 6 minutes and need to just unravel themselves bit by bit, but once it clicks it's with you forevah

I don't see how people say Oceansize tried to make a commercial album with this one. It has a few songs that aren't loaded with odd time signatures but its far from anything that would ever get played on the radio.

I think they themselves actually stated that's what they were trying to do, not just fans.

I agree it doesn't sound very commercial except for a few songs. It was a really adorable attempt at being mainstream that didn't really work but at least it didn't sacrifice any of the quality.
