to this day probably their oddest album but I'm beginning to really appreciate its odd atmosphere. This Punishment really is an incapsulation of what this album is about: relatively quiet, dissonant melancholy. I can dig it.

・one of the most flaccid vocal performances i have ever heard on a metal record
・laughably terrible lyrics even by this band's standards (and not even in a meme way like on viva emptiness)
・copypaste verse/chorus songwriting that would be perfectly harmless if it weren't lubricated with the most bargain bin set of trend-pandering alt metal jank riffs they likely had MTV access to
at least discouraged ones held onto a scuzzy doom atmosphere. this record is just insultingly facile; worst frontman of all time
