@kompys - You would be very correct in that assumption.
Ye Royal Coda never really did much for me.

Regardless of quality though, Royal Coda being used as an example proves my point. Look at their roster: it's Swancore royalty, including literally Will Swan himself. The genre can't stop collaborating with itself, it's an endless positive feedback loop where nothing new can enter.

mars idk if you're a sucker for acoustic ballads but i will say, ATM from the last album is one of my fave acoustic songs ever so if that's your vibe i think that's worth it. style really suits him

So burnt out on swancore man just listen to Happiness and DBM, everything else is irrelevant at this point. Never really vibed with Eidola, Stolas, Sianvar in the first place anyways. I remember enjoying these guys' debut but probably not even gonna bother with this tbh

if any new band, i'll swear by satyr but i don't think ya'll like them. i def think they're a breath of fresh air for the genre but i will admit their last album made them seem kinda one trick pony.
but like if ya'll haven't bopped Aesop (or Locus as a whole) that's your problem, actually the bounciest shit ever, Will Swan could never

oh, you know what fucked recently?!?! the Artifex Pereo/ITO/Tides of Man side project
idk it's more just on the prog post hardcore side but check it, it's good lol. Trade Secrets, they only have 3 songs but just put out a dope live session.

i think the only swancore ive ever liked is dgd and a lot like birds

Yeah best Swancore is between like three bands, maybe four if you count Icarus the Owl but they never quite mixed well with the trajectory of the scene.
For a movement that seemed to have a pretty big cultural impact in the post-hardcore realm, its end result leaves a lot to be desired.
|
| |
rym added it as a subgenre so its safe to say it got enough recognition as a movement
it was just a sorta weak movement
early dgd still slaps tho

Oh yeah, not denying the recognition of it, and it was prevalent enough to deserve a separate distinction as a unique style, it just ended up having far less to show for it than expected imo
