see if you can get it to sing along with the child singing 'this old man' about halfway through the track

Just got to Michael is Done and so far this feels like a Swans folk record or something
Interesting but where is the punch

I'm holding off on reading it in case of spoilers but I'm sure it's magnificent and will weigh in once I'm done listening

Almost at the end of the first disc and it's miles better than the last album and The Glowing Man. Very melodic.

Sad to read so much disdain. Loving this record and find it a step up from Leaving Meaning.

The Beggar Lover is the best thing here and it kind of makes me wish it was a single album with 2-3 other tracks beside it. Some good stuff, but it's too much sluggish tempo.

Quite enjoying this for what it is. Still doesn't have that creepy hellish fire that I come to Swans for, but maybe I'll appreciate this one in a different way. Only halfway through right now though; trying to piecemeal this thing on a work day lol.

Agreed, it has a thing. Maybe the whole death theme and a cohesive sound throughout. The Beggar Lover turns into a Twin Peaks/death/transcending scene halfway through, I love it.

To add to the dreaded recommended by reviewer discourse, is Anochi here for an ironic nod to vitalising people made by vitalised not-dying people or for...? *gasping face*

I think this is quite good. Beggar Lover is 98% baller status. Album could stand to lose two or three tracks to be at the new era table with Seer and To Be Kind - but this is definitely a Swans album worth listening to no matter what.

I like this very much. I slightly prefer it to The Glowing Man but it’s on par with Leaving Meaning for me- always felt that one was a touch underrated.

I feel next to zero hype for this. I might not even listen, like 5 years ago I'd be thrilled for new Swans but the idea of this does nothing for me
