'This album is basically a collection of jams that all sound the same. Hard riffs, big dicks, sweaty chodes; A grandma's worst nightmare. Feel the beast. It rages on inside us all.'

"interesting how it's become trendy to bash pantera"
Interesting how it's only become recently apparent how their attitude has destroyed the culture tbh

Their attitude rose up from an already extant mindset that they were a part of and appealed to and helped further fuel. It wouldâve been there regardless and if not them, itâs possible another band or person wouldâve taken their place. All built up by the innumerable events that all eventually lead to it, the things that âdestroyedâ the culture were, in fact, monuments of a culture mid-burn

Completely agreed. It's like the whole "punk killed prog" argument. Truth is, it's not as simple as that, as so many different factors led to 70s prog's demise. Same with Pantera and their influence on nu-metal, bro culture, and the like. They were a factor, sure, but there were several factors and events that led to the Limp Bizkitification of rock music, so I wouldn't put it on just Pantera themselves

Right? We could go all day listing all of the other things from that time that may have helped contribute to butt rock being butt rock or whatever, but weâd probably go on all day.
Would be cool, though. Could totally see, among countless other things, how grunge and more of a slacker-tude may have impacted the eventual success of Pantera. I mean, even The Simpsonsâ popularity and success in the 90s could hold some cultural insight into what about Pantera, or any remnants of the party-bro pizza thrash of the 80s, appealed to people continuing on. Pantera exist, and existed, and with their popularity, it was at a time when the foundations of their Pantera-ness were most reflected in society

Plus, butt rock and nu-metal were just as influenced by grunge/post-grunge as they were by Pantera. Hell, Staind and Seether have done countless AiC covers over the years

I think what annoys me most is that some people are like "oh they saved metal from the trenches of grunge" meanwhile what killed grunge for the most part (some people still kept it going) was actually the death of Kurt Cobain. Plus it was mostly the attitude of Pantera's fans with all the homophobic bullshit, it's no doubt that that attitude led to all the emo kids in the 2000s getting bullied as much as they did.
