hahaha, that's bloody hilarious.

I liked the review, even though I disagree with it. To those who are negging this, think whether you're letting your bias get in the way of someone's valid opinion. The review was well written, even if it is something most people would disagree with. Voted.

I love reviews that pull my favourite albums to pieces, can't say why but I really do. The review is great to read, but I don't agree with any of your statements.

You can't compare the songs in the way you did, WYWH is meant to be calm and slowly evolving and those sudden outbreaks that you seem to prefer, would have destroyed the whole album. Of course, it needs more patience to listen to than a 3 to 4-minute radiohead song, but when you let yourself go and just let the music float without waiting for any sudden breaks or rapid changes, it is an abolutely unique experience.

Wish You Were Here is so completely different from anything Radiohead have done (though I agree with the band saying, that Pink Floyd is one of their main influences), and also from any of Syd Barret's works that those comparisons seem somehow ridiculous.

But well, of course it's only your opinion and my opinion, but I think you're really missing something if you don't like this. This Message Edited On 02.02.08

Completely wrong, yeah. This album is one of the greatest ever, tbh. The review is good, but a lot of it just sounded like you were slating it because it didn't sound like what Syd Barret would have written. It was never supposed to, PF were a different band here. I much prefer their sound around this era, although I can enjoy their early material. Not my favourite Floyd album, but it deserves a 5 star rating easily, the way I see it.

Would you call GYBE's F#A# an EP only because it has 3 songs? I think not. Think about it.

Actually, I changed my mind- I don't like this review at all. It sounds a) Like it was written for a different album, but that must partly come down to opinion and b) The main point of criticism is that it isn't what Syd would have done. So what? It can still be good music, in this case some of the best ever written! It says that the tribute should be enjoyed by the person it was intended as a tribute for. What's to say Syd wouldn't enjoy it? I would be seriously pleased if I was Syd Barret and this was a tribute to me. The review just doesn't do it for me.

Yeah, this is one of the greatest tributes ever made for anybody in any form.

And honestly, Pink Floyd returning to their psychedelic roots at that point of their carreer wouldn't make much sense at all, and would surely not have culminated in a better album. They were a completely different band than eight years before, so why trying to do something that wasn't up their alley anymore?

Respect your review. This is my favorite Floyd album blow for blow. They didnt make any sounds to get Syd's attention since SOYCD was both a farewell, and a eulogy. This album like most of the other Floyd albums, take you somewhere. Might not be somewhere you want to go, but it still does that job. A 2-star rating is kinda crazy, and the Radiohead comparisons are even crazier.

This review is lame. It seems people with wildly differing opinions feel the need to respect negative reviews of albums they love, but I don't know. I was hoping to read a really convincing negative review but this sounds like you just wanted to do it because of all the 5 star ratings. It read like a meandering, bored-at-work blog entry.
