it was a pretty niche joke maybe it just wasn’t as obviously silly as it felt to me
It was a riff on how self proclaimed audiophiles gatekeep ~being an audiophile~ from old school hip hop fanatics
Of course there is no direct equivalence between poor sample source quality in old school hip hop and poor mixing in modern hip hop, and the former was more forgivable given the context
