Purity Weeps riff is a clear highlight too. Hot. Damn.
Yeah Greyview has grown off me a bit tbh. Still enjoy it but not nearly as much as I did on release.
Jeet is still 100% right that Stillworld and Everchanger are the essentials for these dudes.

I have such a hard time getting into anything these guys did pre-Marcus. Tried many times. Old vocalist had good lows but that's it, instrumentally solid but none of it ever had staying power for me.

Sadly, new vocalist has a hairball stuck in his throat.

For something that feels like there should be some intense themes lyrically, given the vocals, i can’t understand a goddamn thing this guy says

I dont get what makes this album so much better than anything that came before it in their discog (besides Sun Sleeps).
On first impression this album just seems ok at best.

Yeah if you didn't like Greyview you probably won't like this either. It isn't a drastically different sound.

I just do not understand what these guys provide in the realm of djent that has not been done before. It's the same mid-2000s/early 2010s atmo-djent sound but without a distinct vocalist to really sell the sound.
I'll stop complaining here for now, let y'all enjoy it, but might have my own piece to say on it in the future.

The early stuff was much more distinct and helped separate them from the pack. They had more of a focus on atmosphere and included these beautiful melodic parts along with much better lyrics.
This one and the last one are a little more "generic" for this style of proggy/djenty metalcore stuff but still pretty good imo.

Early stuff is much more -core oriented while featuring one of the more recognizable harsh vocalists in the scene. They've scrubbed it for a sound that I don't think expands upon their prior work or flexes their talent.
More power to 'em but feels like they're settling hardcore.

idk how you can make that argument Bandit when Stillworld and Everchanger sound very very similar to Northlane's earlier work

Yeah true, but by the time Everchanger came out Northlane had already released both of their Adrian albums. Then IA just kinda took over that gap in the scene.

Yup, they're not doing anything new, but it certainly delivers.

Random thoughts on this:
Reverie is the most nothing-burger of a track.
Shade Astray still is fun. Thought it'd grow off me but its actually the strongest single and retains the good elements of Greyview.
False Meridian is awesome...then bro starts singing and it kinda just kills the momentum of the track. Still a banger tho.
The choruses on this album are noticeably weaker than on any of their other albums.
Purity Weeps is like a waaaay cooler version of Without A Whisper. Why tf did they not use this as a single instead of that song?
Immolation of Night sucks I'm sorry yall
Instrumentally so much of this blends in together. Album is kind of a slog tbh.

Sounds like a solid 3 from the homie Jeet lol

i like that they've dialed back the borderline abrasive techiness of Greyview. But the problem is that the post-metal/rock elements they've replaced it with blend together a bit like you said Jeet.
still digesting the album, but will probably end up being around a 3.8-3.9 for me

Eh. So uninterested in this album just kinda not rating it feels more appropriate. Shoutout to all the IA lovers that got their fix with this one tho. Maybe the next album will hook me back in.
