awesome review for sure. crazy to see such little growth and development out of a band that used to set the tone.

They're scared of the backlash if they ever develop or mature again. They don't want 2017 happening again.

honestly would rather see them do something experimental and get push back than to repeat the formula. but point taken about not wanting to relive that nightmare.

can they start over from The Black Crown and grow off that? seems like that would be more in line with the landscape nowadays anyway

band went downhill when Mitch died ya, makes me wonder if Mitch had any hand in the songwriting or if I just always looked past bad songwriting due to his sick vocals lol

total speculation on my part, but he had to. maybe more in the conceptual sense of pushing towards the nu-metal-adjacent sound? i liked a couple of songs off of You Can't Stop Me, and the rumor was (if i remember correctly) that there were a couple of songs that were the last of Mitch's on that one.

but just looking at the releases after YCSM - lots of live/rereleases/demos of the first three albums, so maybe they're equally aware of the fact that Mitch was carrying the team.

The first couple of songs were horrendous. I think I made it to track 6, it seemed to get a little better but I’d had enough. There’s too much good music to be wasting time listening to this.

Honestly I don't even really like this band but I expected worse. Don't know or think I'll be going back to listening to any of their stuff. Just wanted to give it a try.

After my negative comment 2 years ago, I finally listened to this. There are a few songs that I actually really love, but I think the band is missing the grit and darkness that the first 2 albums had. Without that vibe, they aren’t particularly heavy, so this crisp, clean sound feels sanitized and ball-less. I can fuck with some dumb Deathcore shit for like 30 minutes at a time, and this band was once great at it. But why tf would I choose this over the 5,000,000 current Deathcore bands that are constantly innovating in the realm of being obnoxiously heavy?
