Just like when Morbius, Morbed... This album, albumed.
It's a shame, because I really enjoyed Pass The Nirvana when I first heard it, and I still jam to it... But that is about it. The album just meanders along and doesn't really go anywhere, and stops you in its tracks but in a very empty way. The opening track is ok, but damn, what a slog.
I'd rather them just make Sky again... There are some decent tracks on that album.

I feel you on this review. It’s just extra music they can add to their live show. Everyone’s still gonna go see them for their older material.

Agreed. Perfect pee breaks during the shows too.
Pass The Nirvana should be pretty fun though at least.

so far so fake was the only song with any sort of energy, but had cringe lyrics. none of it is offensively bad, but album is a huge snooze overall

Probably tied for least favorite but still a nice vibe. I like how chilled out and relaxed it gets and Vic's voice is a soft spot for me.

Thought I best give this another spin considering I'm seeing them next year. And I'm not sure whether it's the initial shock of the direction change wearing off or what, but I kinda enjoyed my listen. I was on a proper Smashing Pumpkins & Weezer binge this year so that might've softened the blow of revisiting this.
Flawless Execution through to Resilience is actually a pretty good stretch of songs all things considering. There's obviously some choice lyrics and dull moments on this album, but there's some "fun" to be had. And some of the more emotional cuts are decent too. I dunno, it's definitely grew on me at least.

This album falls flat compared to the 4 that came before it, but its not necessarily bad.
I am really surprised about how big these guys are in 2024 to be able to pull off a fairly large world tour with Hot Mulligan as an opener. Didn't realize they still had that kind of pull.
|
| |
Yeah I saw they are set to headline Madison Square Garden with Sleeping With Sirens as an opener and I was confused and surprised as to how much pull they still get

To be fair if you look at the number of plays they had with this album, then yeah I'm definitely shocked. Most songs on here (barring the singles) are sub 1M through YouTube music. Collide With The Sky on the other hand you're talking tens of millions for nearly every song. So I reckon that's why they're still popular in the gig scene.

This band exists still huh

Agreed with everyone else, when I saw the venues on their new headline tour I was like holy shit. Esp when you consider I saw Vic at a show one time, like as a spectator, and no one knew who he was lol

^That's hilarious lol. I had a similar experience this year with Ed Sheeran at a Fightstar gig. He was just standing slap bang in the middle of the crowd casually watching the show. A few people got pictures but considering his status, no one actually bothered him and just left him to it. He comes off as incredibly down to earth.
