I think there was no need to "remix" the songs in the greatest hits album, they are perfect just the way they were produced.

There's one song I hate the most and that's numb...

I remember that greatest hits album was one of the first CDs I ever bought, listened to it sooooo much. I like the "new mixes" a lot

The New Mix of Gone is even better imo

none of the New Mixes are better, they might be more pleasant to listen to but they pretty much entirely defeat the purpose of this album which was to be off-kilter and weird and unpleasant

Does anyone know of any other 'Middle aged, pot bellied private cabbie core' I can check that's as good as this?

not sure if this would make any sense, but the closest thing I can think of to this is the most recent Modest Mouse record. Hit or miss, but deliberately "fuck it" with lots of dancy rhythms and outlying brooding tracks.

What made the 90's so wonderful was that many bands were forced to change their sound to a more alternative approach so a lot of them they actually became more interesting like U2, after the 00's all the bands were allowed to return to their "classic" sound, and thus they became as boring as fuck
|
| |
Forced to compromise. Wonderful.
Sort of thing U2 would say tbh
