I really, really hope they build off this album by revisiting their more progressive songwriting. Just a couple lengthier songs on here would’ve challenged SOTP and IHY for me.

Waited to read the review until I got a few more good listens in but it was a great read. Really do hope the boys get some more attention this time around after White Bat was largely ignored by a lot of outlets.

Whole thing carries themes from a variety of their previous works. "Sour" really got me. Brought me back to my teenage years when I first heard them.

I’m really enjoying some of the risks the band took on some of the bridges. The title track has an eerie little singalong which slips into a soaring bit. “Time’s Fake” gets REAL heavy and Schuylar takes his voice to the very brink of screaming, yet refrains from doing so. “Animals” has a tasty little guitar solo. I appreciate these guys being anything but predictable.

Whole shebang is a stupid amount of fun
The vocal melodies on this are so creative and memorable
|

Really wish they’d stop with the vocal effects and samples, it only drags the album/songs down. Album is top tier in every other respect tho

Seamistress and Sour is a fantastic one-two punch but the last two songs realllly fall flat for me
idk, it's got a little bit of that He is Legend magic but it's too samey to be really great IMO

kinda agree re: animals. not one of the better jams here. lord slug slaps ass tho, even if it does kinda sound like they didnt know how to bring it to a close

Love the album but wish they'd let these songs breathe more. There's hardly any slower sections and no epic songs like Stranger Danger, Decisions, China White 3, (((louds. Still great stuff here, it just seems like too much autopilot on the songwriting.

Onion: Definitely agree it sounds like they didn’t know how to end “Lord Slug”.
El Olam: While I think the songs themselves are fairly unpredictable, some of them do suffer from being in that three minute range. I agree they need to let some songs breathe. They haven’t stretched out songs since Heavy Fruit for some reason.

People are turned off by heavy fruit, which may be a reason they don't revisit the amount of creativity they delved into on that album. Which blows my mind because that is probably my favorite album by them, if not then top 3.

The carpet is a top 3 banger (would be 1 if schyler actually went in on the breakdown, huge missed oppurtunity)
