@Egarran The most recent At the Gates album has saxophone in it at points.

Oh thanks but I'm allergic to saxophones.

It's complicated.

Hmm, this is definitely well executed. A definite step up from their last. Easily their best LP since Splendor, I’d say

I’m struggling to conjure up any great excitement and I can’t quite pinpoint why, because admittedly it is rather solid in the main

Yeah the second half has really grown heavily on me to the point where I think there isn't a mediocre track on here. Just straight up fire from start to finish once songs like Nine Days and The Brook start clicking. It's so compact and focussed as well, the hour runtime flies by.

The first 5 songs on this album are legit PERFECT in pacing and really oversell the album. I can not get over how much I love Driftwood when it was my least liked single. It is really hard to pinpoint a exact favorite song since they all feel very connected to each other and are all amazing. For beauty I go with Longhope and for heaviness I learn on Tormento.

Agreed. And I can't get enough of those horns on Am Abgrund.

Was initially put off by the harsh vocals, which to me seem lacking strength.

However, as a whole, Ive come to like the album very much. It has some very memorable moments

holy shit, will have to listen to this. I know they've done stuff since back to times of splendor and it's been decent, but not breathtaking

Yeah I've been spinning this daily the last few weeks. I think it's the only album like that I've had this year.

This is definitely a slow grower, but it's now in that "rapidly skyrocketing" phase of growth for me. Definitely one the best prog releases of the year.
