‘Daisy’ is definitely the grower, I’d say that and the opener are the ‘classic tracks’
Still have a soft spot for ‘Whatever, Mortal’ and ‘Police Dog Blues’ too

Yeah Doof, “Daisy” grew on me quite a bit between those two spins. Oddly though I think “Little Black Boxes” might be my top track here, possibly their best “groovy” track ever? It’s always fun when Wagner leans into the cheese as with those goofy guitars in that one, love it. I definitely dig the mix of that kind of stuff and the sparser ballads here though and those subtler ones are growing more with every pass. Loving the piano work here as always too (though it seems it’s not Tony Crow playing it on this one as he’s credited only with “inspiration” here).

I like LBB a lot too though it seems a little divisive on RYM - basically the first four songs are an excellent run

Yeah, first four, Police Dog, and last two are emerging as the big ones here (which is 7/10 tracks… hah)

yeah, pre much - I do like the Dylan Mousetrap tune a lot as more of a mood piece

The more I listen to this the more I am convinced it is the next Is A Woman. At the very least, a compelling argument can be made that it is the best record since. It just needs a My Blue Wave or, just imagine, Lambchop's version of The Laziest River.

It’s missing something (maybe just that one perfect song) to lift it to a 5 for me yeah.
The fact I consider it likely top five Lambchop says very good things though. Landed on another consistent atmosphere yet again!

“Little Black Boxes” for most danceable Lambchop song of all time?

Most danceable Lambchop but maybe not the most danceable thing Kurt’s sung over ;)

Opening 2 minutes of this album is a 2022 highlight but then the old AI warble kicks in.
