I really liked Sister cities (probably have it rated too high tbh) but this was a bit of a letdown.

This is a big return to form after Sister Cities, which I maintain is really the only bad thing they've done since they started taking the band seriously. I don't think this is as good as NCTH (which is my favorite of theirs), and probably is too disjointed to stand toe-to-toe with Suburbia and TGG as well. Some of the songs do feel as if they are on autopilot a bit, but they are still executed well. The singles outside of Summer Clothes rule, Cardinals II lives up to its namesake, and the band finally remembered how to end a record on an epic note again. I absolutely adore the closer.

If this ends up being their last, it's been a helluva run. I don't think there's been a more trailblazing band in pop-punk during their run and I would consider every album outside of Sister Cities necessary listening for anyone with even a passing interest in the genere -we'll see how this one holds up in that regard. I've only listened once but I think the 3.9 rating feels about right

The third verse of Cardinals is not what I would have expected him to pull for Cardinals II but that’s an inspired choice

Not even trying to stand up for Mr. Soupy here as I find many of the lyrics on these new tracks sorta cringe but literally what does this even mean.

On first listen I'm pretty underwhelmed, might be my least favorite TWY record although I haven't listened to Get Stoked On It. Oldest Daughter and Laura & the Beehive are probably my favorite tracks

I’ve only been able to make it about halfway through because of work but I’ve loved every song so far. Obviously had heard most of the singles but they sound great in context too

The prechorus in that song that leads into that part is so good.

this is probably somewhere in the 3.5-3.7 range but i'll listen a few more times. Tracks 2, 3, and 4 are the easy peak of this which is a shame because 2 of them were singles
