very pleasantly to see some recent discussion on this album. i am a very new listener to sally saltmann's work as i only discovered it this year (from jango radio) but her music, particularly this album, has been heavily on repeat for me lately. it is definitely a favourite!
i think the production is awesome considering she did everything herself. the sampling and vocals is great. above all, i like it because of the songs' subjects matters and her simple but comforting songwriting.
i think its a little unfortunate that she did not find greater immediate success especially after 1234, but it's awesome to see others like it as much as i do even ~20 years after the album's release. robertsona, perhaps i could suggest you check out nedelle's work, which was how i found this album in the first place - esp. nedelle's album the locksmith cometh, hope you like it! they have a common thread in jens lekman too.

OK so Ars this is indeed lovely as well. Thanks for the rec!
I do think the vox get a little too monotonous for my liking after a while though.

Comforting in a really sincere way
Honestly, I really value comforting music, especially as I grow older

Yeah I’m starting to feel that way too. I think teaching and seeing how my students “use” music is part of it
This album feels really emotionally intelligent too, not just niceties

Yeah I guess if might sound weird but it’s just flat out good natured and it’s hard to be cynical when thinking about this kind of music
Though i guess i like cynical stuff too in different contexts
