The songs/riffs and overall atmosphere on this one feel more inspired than Harnessing imo. Agreed with the review that the biggest drawback of both records is the absence of true classic moments, but I also wonder how much the prevailing opinion on these albums is influenced by the (comparatively) more mundane album art and production.

I need to revisit this one again. I did the same with Failures recently, and that album is so frustrating. Its great, but the thin production of the rhythm section really brings it down.

No Jesus No Beast, Unsaved, and God Made Filth are all time death metal classics. I agree the songs on the record are 5 worthy, but the production pulls it into the 4.3/AJFA territory for me. I wonder how it sounds on vinyl
