oh come on Hawthorne Heights's first two albums are just great. the highlight was short-lived but cannot be denied

I can't agree with calling them great. There are a few songs I really like from them but the albums as a whole feel so far below their peers. I've seen them live like 3 times now as a supporting act and the performances are pretty boring. The crowds only get excited for Ohio Is for Lovers and Nikki FM.
I want to like HH more than I do but every time I try to get through one of their first two albums these days I stop by the halfway point.

Off their first 2 albums I think these 6 songs are perfect:
Ohio Is for Lovers, Nikki FM, Silver Bullet, This is Who We Are, Pens and Needles, Saying Sorry
I generally completely lose interest after those first couple releases though ... band unfortunately lost all steam after losing their guitarist/screamer to an overdose (I think)
Their most recent album was a really pleasant listen though! Really dug the singles Constant Dread and The Rain Just Follows Me... for what its worth since this was brought up in relation to silverstein... I would recommend HH newest release over the past 2 silverstein releases.

emery >>> 2003-2017 silverstein >>> hawthrone heights > silverstein 2020 onward
also this is pretty solid but kinda on the weaker end for them imo. would only take it over white line fever and im only a man. opener is one of their best songs tho

2003-2017 Silverstein > 2004-2006 HH > 2018+ Emery >>>>> 2007-2022 HH >>> 2018+ Silverstein
I have no clue what Emery sounded like pre 2018 lol

Agree with onion. Feather, I'm with your HH on those 6 songs being really good. I actually dug a few tracks from Hate quite a bit when I was in college - not sure how/if they've held up. You need to get on that old Emery train though dog. So many incredible songs from the band.

I remember hate being pretty solid as well!
I’ll have to check old emery lol

A great Hawthorne heights record is just a decent Story of the Year album.

@atari I would say 3.4 is a bit generous, very by the numbers but done well and has some strong catchy moments. Really enjoy a couple singles off of it
@storm hh > story of the year
