Lupe's made several cases for a masterpiece tbh, whatever direction he chooses he tends to excel at.

"Now I have diamonds, it's odd feeling this way
But when they start to sparkle that star-glittering glaze
It sways, takes your mind off todays
Where preachers can praise AIDS as God killing the gays
What a fucking phrase, never ceases to amaze
But when he dies from cancer, that's God's mysterious ways"
godDAMN bring that heat

"Seriously? Man if Food & Liquor isn't a masterpiece then I don't know what it"
it's one of my favourite hip-hop albums of the 2000s lol but it's also fairly dated and has 3-4 songs I would never actively listen to again. it's not like a Rap Opus as much as I do love it

Also if you're going to talk about the sonics of this album it really is not a follow up to T&Y, this is a clear successor to the House EP sound.

You can dislike the House EP but literally all of the beats on here would fit right on that tape. Re-listen to Dinosaurs and the Shoes track. This is that sound.

Really didn't like Autoboto, but enjoyed the rest of the album, particularly the jazzier cuts.
