Hexie is soooo good, I think Trample Out the Days and Let Me Drown have become my favorites here

False.

Surprised no one has mentioned “Lafayette,” which is the best track here in a walk.

why is Orville post punk

He is not, imo the people who say he sounds like post-punk just don’t really know what 80s/90s country sounded like. And/or if there is a tiny bit of post-punk it’s more aligned with the milder gothic country influence on this first album.

Anyway though, on second listen right now and this is amazing. His vocals are like butter.

This is even more aligned with 80s/90s country than Pony was and also much less obviously “alt” oriented so I guess it makes sense this will appeal less to fans of that style, which was definitely more rockist in its approach whereas this is very pop.

For the record, I 100% agree with Boney and don’t think of Pony as post-punk in the slightest, but questioning whether it was fully a country record was a big point of discussion. No denying it with this one (and yay Boney for coming around to it!)

And once again we will not stand for any M-I-S-S-I-S-S-I-P-P-I slander here
