You wont even hit peak Frusciante here until near the end. A lot of this reminds of his solo stuff which is miles better than RHCP ever has been. Nothing touches Empyrean or Shadows Collide With People.

Oh I agree. The Empyrean is a modern day epic.

I heard whispers of John's best playing on this record, usually in the intros and outros, but it never felt fully realized to me.

It just made me with I was listening to John's solo work instead.
