also im no psychologist but i think there is definitely something to him hyping everything he drops as the greatest and most important piece of music to ever grace ours ears and people just kinda buying into it because he's dropped great stuff in the past and is super persistent/charismatic about it
goes back to what tvc says in the review... its not even about the music with him anymore, its about the spectacle

Been like this ever since Pablo. Bro gives you all the smoke and mirrors and once you look past it you realize every album post-Yeezus is inconsistent midpack. All the listening parties and livestreams cant mask it.

I honestly haven't been able to get through a whole Kayne album since Yeezus. He has made some good songs since then, but it's like he through quality control out the window lol
pretty much have to go through the filler and playlist all his material post Yeezus

Post-Yeezus, I think you can say that ye is inessential, Jesus is King is Bad, and Donda is a bit bloated but y'all are tripping if if you think his material has taken a massive dive lol Not sure what the point of reviewing this album is when it's clearly not done. We literally have the previous DONDA to look to as a blueprint. I think there are a ton of interesting ideas on here, just have to hope that Kanye and his team can flesh them out with the same jump they did on the last DONDA.

the tracklist he put out had 22 tracks and he has put 16 up on the stemplayer site, a few of which have already received updates. Many of these songs don't have finished verses. How could anyone think this is the actual album given what had juuuuuust happened with DONDA 1. People were freaking out after the first listening party calling that unfinished trash and then look what happened.

TLOP was fairly solid though a clear step down, ye was mid af, JiK was a joke, donda was fine though like tlop its bogged down with a lot of bullshit, donda 2 is apparently an unfinished trainwreck. If all these albums were tlop quality I don't think there'd be much complaints but at least 3/5 of his last albums are straight turds depending on who you ask
Dude can still put out great songs every now and then but the bar for his LPs is on the floor at this point

ye pretty much

I really think if someone says that 3/5 of his last albums are turds they are hating the antics, not the music. I won't defend Jesus is King, so I'll give anyone that but Pablo and Donda have some incredible highs. Their faults are their extensive length and song inclusion. Ye doesn't really do anything new, but all of the songs on it are pretty damn good and Kids See Ghosts is excellent. I totally get not liking the man because all of the bullshit he pulls, but the reports of his music's demise have been greatly exaggerated. I suppose you can argue that he doesn't really care that much about his lyrics anymore, but everyone in this thread seems to be heaping praise on Yeezys and his lyrics were a complete afterthought on that one as well. Every single album outside of Jesus is King seems to be looked at more fondly with age
