Yeah Gyro I'm pretty comfortable saying Celeste is easily a top 10 platformer

You guys should check out some of the Celeste copycats out there. I'm playing one called Splasher and it's extremely good.

Ooo shit will definitely have to look into it

Also to shout out another absolutely brilliant lil indie, the game Nobody Saves The World is actually one of the best RPGs I've played in years, highly recommended

Platformers is a top 3 genre of video game for me (I consider metroidvania in the same ballpark). I'd highly recommend both Shovel Knight and The Messenger. The game I'm most excited for atm tho is easily Elden Ring. Pretty sure that's going to be goty.

I gotta be honest, I'm picking up Dying Light 2 this Sunday and I am damn hyped

Elden Ring will definitely be a masterpiece but I got BOTW2 as GOTY

Also Shovel Knight is one of my favorite games ever jfc I love it with a passion and he is my phone screensaver lol

I loved breath of the wild but Zelda games are piss easy imo. I don't think I ever felt super challenged in botw but it's still an amazing game due to how it handles the open world. There's always something cool to find, no space wasted like you see in games like assassin's creed/far cry/skyrim. Basically 99% of open world games. I think the only two I've ever truly loved are witcher 3 and botw. Elden Ring looks like a marriage between botw and dark souls, hoping I can add it to that small list of great open worlds

Dying light 2 looks good but in 1 I felt that same sort of indifference towards its world and gameplay loop. Like the gameplay was fun but I never felt I was stumbling upon cool unique items and locations. I'm hoping horizon forbidden west is a good time

Yeah I feel you with that on 1, the new locations in 2 look a lot more varied and vertical which excites me

I have no idea what to expect from Forbiddem West and have to play it on PS4 so my excitement is a little muted but I am looking forward to it

Yeah the verticality has me more interested. And same lol. The PS4 chugs pretty hard with these newer games. I always see these great showcases on YouTube not remembering they're running on PC/PS5 and then when it comes time to playing them I realize how low the quality and quantity of assets are by comparison, and how awful the framerate is lol. The retail price on PS5 is extremely stupid tho and they're still impossible to find

Yeah it's very unfortunate, just glad I got my trusty Series S for "next-gen" stuff. I've been playing Kena on PS4 as well as Hitman on Series S and it's not all about graphics of course but god Kena looks blurry and feels anciently slow

Yeah same games are just so poorly optimized. I legit had to stop playing Control on my PS4 because holy shit the framerate was so bad. Dipping way below 30fps. I rly hope Elden Ring is optimized to look good. Even Sekiro on the PS4 chugs hard at times

Control on last gen is one of the worst performing games of the last decade, it's broken. It runs flawlessly on the S tho, not a single hiccup at 60, definitely play it when you get a newer system

This gives a TON of I Would Set Myself on Fire For You vibes tbh, surprised no one has brought that up.

Love the violin on this a lot but feel like they lean on it a little too much as a crutch instead of adding more interesting dynamics/instrumentation tbh
