"Was not ready for that sax in "The Emerald Pearl". This is pretty fun."
"was totally ready to comment that's a trumpet when the song started and then.....fuck. loved that"

If it has been gnawing at anyone like it was me, I got some info from the band on the theory behind the intro to "The Emerald Pearl". I messaged them to share one of my songs that was inspired by that sound, and asked if it was Phrygian dominant or what was going on. They said it's just harmonic minor featuring the diminished note, saying in mind was "out of key Rachmaninov type ornaments". Phrygian was featured in "Souvenir Echo" though, so there's that.

There's something incredibly intriguing about this record. I'm not full-blown in love with it (yet), but it's got me hooked.
