This is a really good album but a little too overproduced.

Bad album. Songwriting and production got so jizzy here. Band has become completely overrated—the older millennials weren’t wrong that there’s something about them/at their core that sucks and is lame, even if they aren’t bad, once in a while great. But now we’re ignoring that dynamic completely. The singing sucks usually and the overly variable jazzy chords kinda just all end up having that same jizzy creep. This makes them immediately identifiable as songwriters but usually in this unsatisfying way. “King charlamagne” is a good example: Kanye sampled the only part that’s at all good, and hearing the song extend past the sample is torture

This seems like a copypasta but it’s not and they actually are a good band and I used to like them more but this album is 100% where the rubber meets the road for me. “Glamour profession” is unbearable

the first one is probably the best because it's the least like this, which makes sense. even that mode they're a bit annoying but bunch of good songs

Oof, that Kid Charlemagne take hurts my eyes. It’s funny though because I’ve been going through their discog with a friend recently and I literally just said to him yesterday that Glamour Profession sucks. I’ve seen it appear in so many top ten lists so I was excited to hear it but yeah, weak sauce. The issues I have with Aja (mainly the uniformity due to the prod) are present here with the exception that these songs aren’t nearly as catchy or well written. For sure among their weaker albums.

I don't think I've ever seen someone call SD's music annoying before. These guys are like the least grating thing i can think of to listen to lol.

Everything Must Go isn't really an essential listen (although I do recommend listening to Godwhacker, that song's awesome), but Two Against Nature is highly underrated/overhated imo. I know it got a Grammy back in the day and people got pissed about it, but the music itself is like a less glossy, more fusion-y version of Aja/Gaucho. Almost Gothic and Negative Girl are among my favorite songs in the Dan's entire discog
