I'm not surprised, but this sounds really good

I strongly dislike the vast majority of this album.

The review made me want to like it after not caring that much for the debut. Over the course of an hour this absolutely felt like going in circles though. Probably just my reptile brain wanting something shiny and moving quickly enough to catch my attention.

Listening to this now. Reese is beautiful. I can def hear some Bruce Hornsby and Never Die Young era James Taylor on that one
|
| |
Disappointed to learn that Glenn Jacobs has nothing to do w/ this band, tbh.

What the Doof says, Bon Iver featuring etc etc etc
I wouldn't see that Taylor Swift feature coming though, the others make sense. Surprised not seeing that three girls band... what was their name hmmm...

It’s too long for sure, doesn’t help

Very pleasant first listen. I enjoyed almost all of this, but I still maintain that Renegade isn't very good and kind of disrupts the flow of the album. Also Latter Days and June's A River are noticeably much better than the other songs, but maybe others will open up more

June's a river is probably the only keeper here for me.

For me it's The Ghost of Cincinnati. That's a straight up Elliott Smith moment.
Much of the rest of this is flat. I think between the disappointing recent albums from The National and Bon Iver (and Ben Howard), and the fact that The National's beats were used for all the new Taylor Swift stuff, I'm just worn out on this style. I'm sure it's better than I'm making it out to be.

I think Bon Iver's last record os glaringly better than this. Not as good as million, but still a solid 4/5 for me. Agreed hard about thr national's last album tho; total snoozer.
Also I do agree that Cincinnati brings the Elliott Smith vibes and it's become a highlight
