Albatross and Dealer are still their best. Opener on here is great though

Dealer is my least favorite. Gorgeous album but feels sort of inconsequential. Albatross is incredible and I could see it being anyone's favorite who favors emo over ambitious alt-rock. Since I'm more a fan of the latter, NMG and this are my 1-2 punch.

Albatross is easily weakest but I haven't heard this yet

This is like a cross between NMG and latter day Muse
I know that sounds like polluting a great thing, but it pans out a little better than expected lol

They’ve not been good since Dealer but at least this is a step better from NMG. I couldn’t imagine anything much worse than that album tho.

Oof that description doesn’t sound like it’s for me. Gonna check anyways because I love Dealer.

It ain’t Dealer. That’s for sure. Dealer and Albatross rule. This is like a not nearly as grating NMG. Lol. I don’t know if I could handle another “Crown Candy,” “Gameshark,” “The Lich,” and “Heartbeats”. Those are some of the worst songs I’ve heard in the last decade. I’m still surprised no one has drawn a comparison between “Gameshark” and “Stupid Hoe” by Nicki Minaj besides me.

They only had three albs, the one that least fits my preferred genres is my least fave. How is this confusing

Some strange opinions itt, but I'm sure mine is one of them
I'd say: NMG >> DDtM > Albatross >> Dealer

Oh another point of comparison I'm feeling, and not just because Hull was heavily involved in the songwriting/production here, is The Million Masks of God. So many of these songs I could so easily hear Manchester Orchestra performing.

This sounds at once utterly hellish and like I might prefer it to NMG tbh. No more Five Cups hooray hooray

“Some strange opinions itt”
I’m one of the top rated sound offs in NMG. I think people did it for a meme. But god I fucking LOATHE that album. Everything about it is unlistenable, especially those songs I mentioned. Yuck. I was cautious about this album. I didn’t hate it. But it also wasn’t good. I also wouldn’t not listen to it again.

Yeah I hated Five Cups honestly lmao. But I tossed that line into my review to make a point about the style change from elaborate to clear-cut.

@BrushedRed: I remember my first few spins of NMG I was like is this guy's falsetto a joke (this was my first exposure to Foxing ftr) and everyone was comparing it to Brand New/Modest Mouse and I though they were all high. But Conor's voice grew on me super quick and once I read into the lyrics and picked up on some of the album's subtleties I was hooked. I don't think I 5'd it until the next year but yeah I definitely think it's the best Foxing. This is definitely their 2nd best by my standards.

I don't think i understand the question lmao but yes this thing is full of bops and bangers (someone please provide a disambiguation because I've been using those terms interchangeably for years)
