"whats the point of giving out 3.5s and 4s like candy if i feel no desire to listen to those albums ever again right"
"Does not diminish their quality in any way, it just means I listen to so much music that I can't stop and fixate on a single release for very long"
aside from all other fax spoken on that page, i like these two bits in particular because my method of musical discovery has been a pretty even mix between these two. my early "jam one album for two weeks straight" days has taught me that, unfortunately, it's not conducive to my long-term enjoyment for me to sink 40 spins into an album within a short period of time like others can. i could listen to the best album i've heard in months but past 8 or so listens in a couple weeks my mind starts to tell me "well, it's probably not THAT good..." so i feel the need to pace myself
at the same time, tho, the sheer gargantuan volume of music out there that effectively Dunning-Kruger'd any expertise i thought i had in any genre has lent me to the sentiment that i should only rate high the albums that really do feel worth coming back to. there's the exceptions with some acclaimed albums i don't really feel that i "get" yet but a 3.5 or a 4 is usually an indicator of "oh yea, i remember being impressed by that! i should probably revisit that one"

"same, but all I get instead is soundoffs that say “a colton 4.5, that’s very worrying” with 7 bumps"
i bump all of those. we love you ColeT < 3

gravity is lower going towards the equator, so the 5.0 slowly decompresses and becomes a 5.5

Long Lost, Twenty Long Years, Drops in the Lake
One of the best 3 song stretches I've heard in a long time

Lord Huron is music that I am happy to catch live but don't go out of my way to listen to otherwise.

This is probably an emotional 5 but still I honestly believe this is the best Lord Huron to date and will be an AOTY contender for some, so it's worth a cursory listen even if the best thing that comes out of it for you is a warm 3.5-4 / 5 summer folk record

pretty much hit the nail on the head, it's a breezy vibe that doesn't vary a whole lot for me, but it's a pretty atmosphere and Long Lost alone was worth the listen. happy for you and how this hit home, even if it didn't get there for me

Just bumped my rating up, have to say this is a lot better than I thought on first listen... Definitely my favorite Lord Huron record. Still have a few gripes but there's a bunch of gorgeous songs on here.

this is definitely their best album, like the old time'y feel on this one
gives them more personality other than just 'cider commercial rosy cheek indie folk'
